DALYAN
Dalyan is a small town on the south-western coast of turkey, 25 km from International Dalaman Airport. The town of Dalyan is situated on a beautiful river, surrounded by lush green fields but the waters flows from the spectacular mountain range that forms a backbone to Muğla province. Daylan takes its name from this river which links the small town of Köyceğiz to the Mediterranean. On the opposite side of the river there is one of the greatest archeological sites in Turkey, Caunos. So far only 10% of the city has been unearthed but every year more and more discovered.
Dalyan is one of the last corners of paradise. The surrounding area has a rich variety of wildlife, including an incredible number of bird species. Dalyan is established in an environmentally protected and still surviving paradise. it is a truly outstanding area of natural beauty. No visit to Dalyan is complete without a tranquil boat trip down to the 4 km long beach, which is the nesting area for the protected Loggerhead Sea Turtle or Caretta caretta.
Dalyan mud baths are also a place to while away a few hours. This is an extraordinary experience and the Turkish baths are perfect for a relaxing massage. Dalyan has many therapeutic hot springs; its water contains elements which as said to help those suffering from rheumatism, skin and liver complaints.
Dalyan offers many other activities such as Jeep safari tours, mountain biking, bird watching, sea kayaking, paragliding, and fishing.
There are many restaurants with a wide range of cuisines including traditional Turkish food. Dalyan is not the place to come for a lively nightlife but there are several bars and cafes in which to enjoy the evening.
For those wanting to party until dawn, the busier resorts like Marmaris would be better suited.
Dalyan is unique destination full of culture, charm, history, beauty and, of course, traditional Turkish hospitality.
The local market is held every Saturday where traditional Turkish handcrafts, souvenirs and many more things are on sale.
